The Dorchester Afternoon Tea: Wednesday 2 February
Amanda Wakeley will present her Spring/Summer 2011 collection at the Dorchester. You can choose from two sittings of Afternoon Tea at 2.15pm and 4.45pm.
It’s a glorious opportunity to tap into fashion week and view one of the collections usually reserved for press and fashion A-listers.
While you enjoy the show, indulge in a glass of Champagne, savoury finger sandwiches, homemade scones and a selection of French pastries.
Bookings will include a goody bag with gifts from contributing luxury brands and a 10% discount on Amanda Wakeley purchases made between 3rd February and 31st March 2011, at the Amanda Wakeley flagship store on Fulham Road.
Amanda Wakeley, OBE, is a self-taught designer with an international reputation for her elegant womenswear and accessories.
Over the years, she has dressed stars such as Scarlett Johansson, Demi Moore, Kate Beckinsdale, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and Kate Winslet. She has also dressed the late Princess of Wales and Queen Rania of Jordan.
Primarily known for subtly coloured and multi-textured eveningwear, and pared-down classic daywear, she has recently introduced a successful shoe and new fine jewellery collection to complement her clothes.
Her Spring / Summer 2011 collection takes inspiration from tribeswomen translated into an urban landscape with earthy neutrals, cobalt blue and vibrant coral dominating a vibrant palette for the season’s evening and daywear.
Guests booking the Amanda Wakeley Fashion Week Tea will also gain complimentary access to her exclusive personal styling service, an expert team headed by Bridget Bowen offering individually tailored shopping advice.
Amanda will also be table-hopping to solve guests’ personal shopping queries and share her experiences of the fashion industry.
The Dorchester’s rituals are rooted in British custom with a nod to ‘the new’. Whilst the fashion for holding afternoon tea is widely attributed to The Duchess of Bedford in 1830, it has been a marvellous tradition at The Dorchester since 1931, when the hotel first opened.
Stretching the length of Nelson’s Column, and often referred to as the ‘Living Room of Mayfair’, The Promenade is the buzzing heart of the hotel where flowers surround plush sofas and the silk pillows are as soft as marshmallows.
Afternoon tea in The Promenade at The Dorchester is priced at £48.00 per adult, including a glass of champagne (prices are inclusive of VAT and exclusive of service charge at 12.5%).
