The 2010 Bristol International Festival of Kites & Air Creations will take place in Ashton Court Estate, over the weekend of 4th and 5th September.

The festival will be celebrating 25 years of flying high and will also be a part of the Year of Flight – marking 100 years of the Bristol Aeroplane Company. Following record crowds and fantastic flying conditions in 2009, the Kite festival is promising an action packed aerial extravaganza.

It will feature spectacular flying displays, kite fighting battles, breathtaking synchronised routines flown to music and awesome power kites as well as colourful ground-based inflatables and air sculptures of all shapes and sizes.

International kite guests will be winging their way from as far as New Zealand, Tasmania, the Caribbean and USA to join flyers and enthusiasts from across Europe.

2010 Coupe Gordon Bennett Balloon Race

Up to 20 teams from around the world will compete in the Gordon Bennett Gas Balloon Race.

Taking off at night from Bristol, the team which flies the furthest distance from the start point wins the race. Spectators can view the race online and track their team favourites.
