Make it Easy to Claim on Travel Insurance

Making an insurance claim doesn’t have to be a massive headache at the end of your holiday.

Essential Travel says that claims can be sorted out quickly and easily by simply following a few practical steps.

Get the Policy Right
To get the right policy, you need to get the right ‘cover’. When you have that, it’s much easier to claim.

For example: if you’re going on a ski holiday, make sure that you have a policy that covers you for skiing.

Similarly, if you have a pre-existing medical condition, ensure that you tell your insurance broker about any pre-existing conditions.

Firstly, you’ll have a better holiday when you know that you’re covered properly. And it will also help when sorting out claims.  Most insurers are happy to pay out when the claim follows their own policy guidelines.

Read the Booklet
People often fail to read the policy booklet. This means they think they have a policy for things that are not actually covered and, later down the line, this can mean you don’t know what you can and can’t claim for.

This will not only slow down the claiming process, you might pay for the wrong kind of cover. It’s best to go through your policy thoroughly so that you know exactly what kind of cover you will get.

Honesty Makes a Better Policy
It’s best to lay everything on the table when you take out travel insurance. Not only does this help your travel insurer to understand the kind of coverage you want, but it will help prevent any delay in settling your claim.

You might want to mention any medical conditions, the number of people cover is needed for, and any special needs you may have. Additionally, if you’re on business, you might need extra cover for laptops, mobiles, cameras, and other equipment you’re travelling with.

Be Responsible
A late night out is one thing, but a late night out and driving is quite another matter.

Even when it’s your time to relax, most travel insurers expect you to handle yourself in a responsible manner while you’re on holiday.

In short, travel insurers won’t settle claims that arise from irresponsible behaviour. If you were to cause an accident whilst intoxicated, your claim might be delayed or thrown out.

How to Claim
Let your travel insurer know when something goes wrong as soon as possible. Most insurers have a 24 hour emergency number.

Make sure you have your policy number ready (always carry it with you while you’re travelling) and do your best to explain everything that happened.

Your travel insurer will then check whether you have adequate coverage, and if you have followed the above steps, your claims should come through glitch-free.

Fancy Fish Workout for Feet?

Garra Rufa fish pedicures at Aqua Sheko, Kensington, London

Garra Rufa fish pedicures at Aqua Sheko, Kensington, London

The ultimate pedicure has arrived with London’s first ever fish therapy concept spa, Aqua Sheko, based in Kensington, London.

A popular beauty treatment in Asia, fish therapy is a relaxing way to remove dead skin from your feet.

It might sound a bit unnerving but it’s easy on the feet. The tiny Garra Rufa fish is a form of carp, and has no teeth.

They use a sucking motion to painlessly lift away dead skin without damaging the new health cells underneath. The sensation is a pleasant one, akin to a light massage.

Fish therapy might be new to London but these miniature pedicurists have been perfecting the feet of bathers for centuries.

Found naturally in hot springs near Kangal, Turkey, it is believed that Garra Rufa fish secrete an enzyme – diathanol – that improves skin regeneration.

Fish therapy has also been used to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis and is suitable for anyone suffering from dry skin.

Ms Ho was inspired to bring fish therapy to London after receiving the treatment whilst on holiday in Macau.

She said, “Fish therapy was so effective it was like a mask had been removed from my feet; the results were instant.”

The sleek, oriental-inspired décor of Aqua Sheko creates a restful, tranquil retreat where you can escape the chaos of city life.

Visit with friends or for a mini pamper session during your lunch break; you do not need to remove any clothing – except for shoes, of course – to enjoy the benefits of fish therapy.

One 45 minute treatment is £35 and includes:
• Washing/cleaning of feet prior to treatment
• Thirty minutes of fish therapy
• Relaxing massage after treatment

After the first three sessions booked, you get one free session.

Aqua Sheko has eight pools, allowing one client per pool. Each pool is filtered and fed by a constant oxygen supply to ensure clean water and a healthy environment for the fish. In addition, the pools are sterilized using ultra-violet lights.

Aqua Sheko is based at 14 Holland Street, High Street Kensington, London W8 4LT.
